Cookie Policy

About this page

This Cookie Policy explains how the Tiny Pine Haven website uses cookies and similar technology, and which outside services your browser contacts when you open our pages. It forms part of our privacy documents and is meant to be read with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information under Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI).

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. Cookies can remember a choice you have made, such as closing a notice, so that the site does not ask again on your next visit. Other cookies follow you from site to site to measure visits or show advertising. We describe below which kind we use.

What our site stores

The only thing this website stores on your device on its own account is the answer you give to the cookie notice at the bottom of the page, "Got it" or "Reject". That record exists so that the notice does not reappear on every page. It does not identify you, it is not shared with anyone, and it is not used to track you.

We do not run visitor analytics, advertising tags or social-media tracking pixels on this site at the time of writing. We do not build profiles of visitors and we do not show personalised advertisements. If you reject the cookie notice, the whole site continues to work normally.

Outside services that load when you open a page

Even without tracking cookies, some content on our pages is delivered by other companies, and your browser contacts their servers when the page loads. When this happens the company can see your IP address and basic browser information, because that is how the internet works. These are the services in use:

Google Fonts. The text on our pages is set in the Inter Tight typeface, which your browser downloads from Google's font servers.

Google Maps. The map in our contact section is an embedded Google Maps view of our office at 146 Tanakachō Hondōri, Tokamachi, Niigata 948-0028, Japan. Google may store its own cookies when the map loads and handles the information under its own privacy policy.

We chose these two services to keep the site fast and easy to read. We do not receive the information that they collect. If you prefer to avoid them, you can block third-party content in your browser; the pages remain readable, and our address and phone number are written out in text next to the map.

Your choices

You can choose to accept or reject the notice shown on our site. You can also manage cookies in your browser settings: most browsers let you see which cookies are stored, delete them, block cookies from particular sites, or block third-party cookies altogether. Please note that blocking some cookies, in particular those set by the Google Maps embed, may mean that the map does not appear.

Because we do not use tracking cookies on our own account, rejecting our notice does not change what we collect about you. If we add analytics or advertising tags in future, we will update this page and the cookie notice first, describe each tool and its purpose, and ask for your consent before the tool is switched on, as the law requires.

Cookies, personal information and your rights

Under APPI, information that can be linked to a specific person, such as an IP address combined with other details, may count as personal information once it reaches us. Because we do not receive visit data from the outside services above and run no tracking of our own, a visit to our pages normally leaves us with no information about you at all. The exceptions are server logs kept by our hosting service for security and troubleshooting, which record the time of a request, the page requested and the IP address, and are kept for the period set by that service.

If you want to know what we hold, to have it corrected or to have it deleted, you can use the procedure in our Privacy Policy, under disclosure requests. We will answer cookie questions through the same contact details.

Information you send us

Details you type into the contact form or send by email are not cookies. They are personal information, and we handle them as described in our Privacy Policy: we use them to answer you and to look after an order, we do not pass them to third parties except as that policy describes, and you may ask us at any time to show, correct or delete them.

Retention

The cookie-notice record stays in your browser until you delete it in your browser settings. Third-party cookies from services such as Google Maps are governed by those services' own retention rules.

Changes

We will revise this page when the tools used on the site change, for example if we add a payment service, a newsletter sign-up or analytics. The newest version is always the one on this page.
